V-tech VT 843, Loctite 243 Blue, and Everbuild GP Blue to Secure Screw in Watch Pins and Bracelet Screws
SKU Code: 1370534
V-tech VT 843, Loctite 243 Blue, and Everbuild GP Blue are all medium-strength, self-curing thread-locking adhesives designed for applications where secure fixing is essential but future disassembly is still required.
These fast-acting thread lockers are ideal for watches pins, rotors and bracelets, helping to them from gradually loosening due to vibration and daily wear. They also seal the threads, offering protection against moisture ingress and corrosion, while remaining easy to remove using standard watchmaking tools or precision screwdrivers.
Beyond horology, these adhesives are widely used in precision instruments such as cockpit clocks, as well as in electronic devices including computers, smartphones and robot vacuum cleaners where vibration can otherwise cause fasteners to work loose over time.
Because availability can vary, we normally stock all three products and supply whichever is currently in stock. In practical terms, there is no functional difference between themâthey are all designed to perform exactly the same task to the same standard.Â
Key Features
- Medium strength, allowing easy disassembly when required
- Gap-filling capability up to 0.25 mm
- Quick initial bond time of 5â10 minutes
Important Note
While it is sometimes possible for bracelet screws or screw-in lug pins to remain secure without thread locker if tightened excessively, our watchmakers strongly advise against relying on this. If a pin works loose, the watch can detach from the wrist, potentially resulting in serious and costly damageâor, in extreme cases, a watch that is beyond economical repair. A small drop of thread locker is cheap insurance.
Worth noting that this is a product youâll often find in most automotive stores, tool shops, and even many motorcycle dealerships. The catch isnât availabilityâitâs quantity.
For watch work, you only need around 5â10 mL, which is enough for multiple jobs over a long period. However, motorcycle and tool shops typically sell it in 50 mL or larger bottles. Thatâs not only unnecessarily expensive, but also massively more than youâd ever need for watchesâor even clocks.
